Don Butler, Cadillac’s former vice president of global strategic development, has been appointed as Ford’s new executive director of connected vehicles and services, the Blue Oval automaker announced earlier this week.
Butler left Cadillac in August 2013 saying he needs to “take a step back to recalibrate, reassess my priorities”. He was shifted from vice president of US marketing to vice president of global strategic development with four months prior to his resignation.
In the newly created position at Ford, Butler will be responsible for the brand’s global integrated connectivity vision and strategy, with the goal of “delivering a best-in-class customer experience both inside and outside of the vehicle.”
"Not only does Don understand the connected car landscape, but probably just as important, he understands customer expectations," said Raj Nair, group vice president of global product development. "Having a leader with technology experience both inside and outside the industry is a rare combination – we're excited to have Don join our team."
