Rimac Concept One to enter limited production

The Rimac Concept One electric hypercar will soon been produced in very small numbers, and the production version will debut at the 2016 Geneva motor show. The Concept One’s drivetrain has been tweaked since its debut, but it still features four electric motors, one for each wheel, with each pair located in the middle of their respective axles. In total, the coupe’s drivetrain is rated at 800kW of power and 1600Nm of torque.

The Concept One’s drivetrain has been tweaked since its debut, but it still features four electric motors, one for each wheel, with each pair located in the middle of their respective axles. In total, the coupe’s drivetrain is rated at 800kW of power and 1600Nm of torque.

Up front, each of the electric motors is connected to a single-speed transmission. At the rear, each drive unit is hooked up to a two-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

To ensure that each wheel receives the appropriate amount of torque for the situation, the Concept One features an on-board torque vectoring system that’s derived from the one used in the Rimac e-Runner raced by Nobuhiro Tajima at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

The company claims that the 1850kg Concept One is capable of completing the 0-100km/h dash in 2.6 seconds, hitting 200km/h within 6.2 seconds and blowing past the 300km/h mark in 14.2 seconds. Top speed is rated at 355km/h.
