New generation MINI TwinPower Turbo engines have been announced, three and four-cylinder inline gasoline engines.
The now famous 1.5-liter three-banger now has an official output: 134 bhp (100 kW) or 136 PS measured according to the European standard. It will also deliver 220 Nm of torque is available from 1,250 rpm and can be temporarily boosted to 230 Nm on overboost.
We think this engine is going into the new Cooper, which currently provides a 122 PS engine with 160 Nm of torque.
MINI also revealed a new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine, something they've never offered before. This one has 192 PS (189 bhp, 141 kW) and 280 Nm of torque (300 Nm with overboost).
The closeness of the numbers suggests this is going in the Cooper S, which currently offers a 1.6-liter turbo with 184 PS and 240 Nm (260 with overboost).
